Clanada: Gensou Shoujo

Instead of showing you a game I made, here's a game that I (or rather, Indie Superstar) found on a Japanese website: Clanada: Gensou Shoujo. As far as I can tell, the shmup game is a trial version and only consists of two (?) levels. But it's a fun two levels.

Basically, you're a girl (or as Babelfish translated it, a "magnificent girl") that has a teddy bear kinda thing that floats around her. You shoot about six lasers, and the teddy shoots two. You go around and shoot objects such as smiley faces, playing cards, party hats, and wooden stars, among other enemies. At the end you meet a boss, yadda yadda, and it's all good.

It took me about four tries to beat it. You have three (?) lives and three (?) continues to make it to the end of the game. The game is somewhat difficult, but not too hard.

Use the Z key to shoot, C key to use a bomb, and the ALT key to pause. On the menu, use the arrow keys to move the cursor and the Z key to select. The first option is the play option, second one is the level select. The second to last seems to be a different version of the game, but with the same levels. The only difference that I noticed was the lack of continues.

Clanada can be found here. The second link from the top (in my Firefox browser it looks like 体験版ver.6.0320(約20Mbyte)) is the download link.

Overall, Clanada is a beautiful game that will provide you with a few minutes of indie-game pleasure.

This blog has been abandoned. My new website is located at PieguyArcade.com. The games located there are of a higher quality than the ones here. Thanks!
